The first full day without a drink. Nothing is sent or saved.

Enter your sober date. It cannot be later than today.

A calculator answers once. If you want this number to move over months, that needs a record: a free habit tracker that shows the whole month on one screen.

How the count works

The count is full days from your sober date to today, using your own device's date. On your sober date itself it reads zero. The next morning it reads one day.

Years, months and days are calendar time, the same way a birthday is counted. The one-year mark lands on the same date as your sober date, a year later, not after 365 days. In a leap year those differ by one day, and people notice.

Milestones this page counts

Most recovery groups mark the early days closely and then count in years. This page follows that: 24 hours, a week, 30, 60 and 90 days, six months, then each anniversary. The next one is shown with its date, so you can put it in a calendar yourself.

  • 24 hours
  • One week
  • 30, 60 and 90 days
  • Six months
  • One year, then every year

Why this page does not save your date

A sobriety date is private, and a page that stored it would need an account, a database and a reason for you to trust both. This one needs none of that. The cost is that you retype the date each visit. Bookmarking the page does not keep it.

If you want a record that keeps itself, a daily tracker where each sober day is a filled box does that. It also shows the shape of a hard week in a way a single number cannot.

Count your sober time

  1. Enter your sober date

The first full day without a drink, or the date your group counts from.

  2. Optionally, enter what you used to spend a day

Any currency. The page multiplies it by days sober.

The milestone date is worked out for you, including leap years.

Questions people ask

How do I calculate how long I have been sober?

Count full days from your sober date to today. This page does it for you and also shows years, months and days, weeks, and hours.

Does the sober date count as day one?

Here it counts as day zero, and the next day is one. Some groups count the sober date as day one. If yours does, add one to the total.

What are the common sobriety milestones?

24 hours, one week, 30, 60 and 90 days, six months and one year are widely marked, then every anniversary after that.

Is my sober date stored anywhere?

No. It never leaves your browser and is gone when you close the tab.

Numbers are easy. Doing it every day is the hard part.

A calculator tells you where you are once. If the thing you actually want is to keep something up, that takes a record rather than a result.
